Brown Sugar Lemonade infuses tangy citrus flavors with the rich sweetness of brown sugar. Made with fresh lemons and in less than 5 minutes, this drink has caramel notes that add a delicious depth to this classic summer beverage.

If you’re looking for more unique lemonade flavors and are into black tea, you should try my famous Earl Grey Lemonade, or this refreshing Thai Lemon Iced Tea. Looking for a caffeine boost? Coffee lemonade is my favorite caffeinated drink for summer!

    🍋Ingredients

Lemon Juice. I recommend using fresh lemon juice for the best result. We’re using about 4 lemons to get ¾ cup of juice.

You can use lime juice, just remember that limes are tangier than lemons.

Brown Sugar. You can use light or dark brown sugar for this recipe. Light brown sugar contains less molasses, giving this lemonade a milder caramel flavor, while dark brown sugar makes it stronger.

You can use brown sugar simple syrup to sweeten this lemonade.

    🫗How to make it

Hand squeezing half of a lemon.

    Step 01. Squeeze the lemons.

Tip: Roll lemons on the counter, pressing down, or microwave them for 15 seconds to extract more juice.

    A pitcher with water.

Step 02. In a pitch, add 5 cups of water. Don’t add ice cubes yet.

Brown sugar lemonade in a pitcher with a stirring spoon.

Step 03. Add lemon juice and brown sugar, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Serve the lemonade over ice.

Tip: Use lemonade ice cubes instead of regular ice cubes. It prevents the lemonade from watering down, making a delicious beverage from start to finish.

    ✔️Expert Tips

    • You can use brown sugar syrup instead of brown sugar. Add the same amount asked for sugar (¾ cup), but only 4 ⅓ cups of water.
    • If you want it sweeter, just add more sugar. Add 1 tbsp, stir and taste.
    • Use lemonade ice cubes instead of regular water ice cubes. You can also try this recipe with black tea ice cubes.
    • Substitute regular water for sparkling water. This substitution makes this drink taste like a delicious mocktail, perfect for a dry month!
