Thai Tea Syrup (Thai Tea Concentrate)

Thai Tea Syrup is a simple syrup made with Thai Tea Mix. It's perfect for adding this flavor to your favorite drinks, and you can make a batch and refrigerate it for a quick Thai Milk Tea!

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoon thai tea mix
  • 2 ¼ cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 piece star anise
  • 1 pod green cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  • In a medium pan, add water, Thai tea, sugar, and the optional cardamom, star anise, and nutmeg. Over high heat, bring it to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Pour the syrup through a fine mesh strainer to remove the tea and spices.
  • Wait for the syrup to cool. Store in the refrigerator using an airtight container.

Notes

Sugar. Granulated or caster work. Don’t use icing sugar. You can substitute with your favorite sweetener. If doing so, check the conversion amount you should use. If substituting for:
  • Xylitol: use 1 cup.
  • Stevia: use ¼ cup.
  • Erythritol: use 1 ⅓ cup.
  • Monk Sugar: use 1 cup.
  • Coconut Sugar: use 1 cup.
  • Organic Agave Sweetener: use ⅔ cup.
  • Honey: use 1 cup.
