Notes

Substitutions:
  • You can substitute lemons with limes and get a similar taste. Just be mindful that limes can be tangier than lemons.
  • If you want to use sugar directly, add half of the amount asked, only adding more if needed.
  • If you like your lemonade less sweet, add only 3 tablespoon of simple syrup.
  • You can substitute simple syrup with an Earl Grey syrup, to enhance even more the Earl Grey taste.
  • An alternative to normal water ice cubes is to make Earl Grey ice cubes, lemonade ice cubes, or a mix of the two. Using them keeps this lemonade cool without dissolving the taste by adding more water.
Do not let the Earl Grey steep for longer than 6 minutes! Black tea, when steeped for too long develops a bitter flavor. If you’re worried about not getting enough Earl Grey flavor, you can use Earl Grey syrup or even Earl Grey ice cubes, as mentioned in the ingredients.
Make it bubbly. Substitute water mixed with the lemon juice (not the hot one!!) with sparkling water for a twist.
A touch of lavender. You can add ¼ teaspoon of lavender extract for a hint of lavender flavor. Or you can use an Earl Grey that has lavender on it. This flavor also combines perfectly with lemon.
