Dirty Matcha Coffee Latte

Ingredients

  • 1 oz espresso
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 4 oz hot water
  • ½ tablespoon simple sugar syrup
  • 4 oz whole milk
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  • Prepare a shot of espresso. I like to use a dark roast like Starbucks Sumatra for this recipe.
  • Prepare matcha. Mix matcha powder with hot water and whisk until powder is fully incorporated and no lumps are left.
  • Fill a glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour simple syrup, then the matcha.
  • Add milk, and top it with the espresso.

Notes

About the milk:
Whole, partially skimmed or skimmed milk work for this beverage. If you’re looking for a dairy-free/vegan version, you can substitute for almond, soy or oat milk. Use the unsweetened, unflavored version. 
About the coffee:
Cold brew concentrate can be used instead of espresso.
You can also try using instant or brewed coffee. When making it with instant or regular coffee, the taste of the matcha comes out more strongly.
