Matcha Frappuccino

Matcha Frappuccino is the ultimate drink for those who can’t get enough of that green goodness. This crème frappe is super simple to make, and has a secret trick that makes it creamier just like the ones you find at Starbucks.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoon matcha powder
  • ¼ teaspoon xanthan gum optional
  • whipped cream optional

Instructions

  • Add ice cubes, milk, sugar, matcha powder, vanilla extract and xanthan gum (if using) to the pitcher of a blender.
  • Blend it for 30 seconds, or until you have a smooth texture.
  • Pour in a tall glass, and top it with whipped cream.

Notes

You need a blender able to crush ice for this recipe to work.
For a creamier, smoother Frappuccino:
  • Use xanthan gum;
  • Use milk ice cubes rather than water ice cubes.
 
About matcha powder:
  • Make sure you’re using 100% matcha powder, and not one with added sugar ando/or milk;
  • A premium grade will give this drinks a less bitter taste.
