- 3 tablespoon chocolate malt powder
- 2 espresso shots 60ml
- ⅓ cup almond milk
- Ice.
Start by brewing 2 doses of espresso.
In a mason jar or any jar with a lid, add chocolate malt powder, ice enough to fill it, and pour the espresso shots.
Close the lid and shake it until chocolate malt powder has dissolved, and the beverage is lightly frothy. For the best result, shake espresso, chocolate malt powder and ice for at least 1 minute, vigorously.
Pour in a tall glass. Add more ice if needed. Add almond milk and serve right away.
For a perfect copycat recipe, use Starbucks Blonde Espresso blend for brewing the espresso.
Use filtered water for making the ice cubes and brewing the espresso.
Shake all the ingredients together if the almond milk you’re using doesn’t mix very well with coffee.
Make it using instant coffee: 1 teaspoon of instant coffee for ¼ cup of water can substitute the espresso in this recipe. Be aware that it will make a significant difference in taste.
Make your own vegan chocolate malt powder:
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder;
- 1 tablespoon of malt powder; and
- 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar.
Mix ingredients until well combined. The amount is enough for 1 serving.
