Tangy and refreshing, Earl Grey Iced Tea Lemonade is a delicious twist in this famous beverage that will keep you fresh all summer!

    Glass of earl grey lemonade.

I love adding different flavors when making lemonade! Have you tried making lemonade with coffee? Is one of my favorite ways to keep me caffeinated during a scorching day!

If you’re a fan of lavender, you should definitely try this Lavender Blueberry Lemonade: it has the sweetness of fresh blueberries, the tanginess of lemons, and floral notes that makes it taste like a mocktail.

    🫖Why make it

This lemonade is like an Arnold Palmer (a drink made with half lemonade, half black tea), but better. Earl Grey and its unique bergamot taste matches perfectly with the sourness of fresh lemon juice, making this beverage perfect for those seeking a flavorful lemonade.

This is a great drink for parties and gatherings, even barbecues! If you’re looking for a lemonade that will positively surprise your guests, save this and give it a try - it's as good as my winter lemonade!

    📃Ingredients

Earl Grey tea. You can use tea bags, or loose tea leaves. The important thing is to choose your favorite brand, as it will play a huge part in the taste.

Lemons. I prefer to use fresh lemon juice for this recipe. It tastes better and leaves no funny aftertaste that some bottled lemon juice has. However, bottled lemon juice can be used.

You can substitute lemons with limes and get a similar taste. Just be mindful that limes can be tangier than lemons.

Simple syrup. Simple syrup makes it easier to sweeten this drink, as sugar dissolves slower into cold liquids. I have a 2 minute simple syrup recipe that requires only hot water and sugar, and you can do it in the microwave.

If you want to use sugar directly, add half of the amount asked, only adding more if needed.

You can substitute simple syrup with an Earl Grey syrup, to enhance even more the Earl Grey taste.

Water. I prefer to  use filtered water when making lemonades, but tap water, if yours is drinkable, also works.

Ice cubes. To keep your lemonade cool through a hot day! Add them only when serving, so your drink doesn’t get watery.

    Ready to drink lemonade.

An alternative to normal water ice cubes is to make Earl Grey ice cubes, lemonade ice cubes, or a mix of the two. Using them keeps this lemonade cool without dissolving the taste by adding more water.

    🍋How to make it

    Earl Grey tea steeping.

Step 1. Pour over tea bags or loose tea 2 cups of hot water and allow it to steep for 4 to 5 minutes.

Hand removing Earl Grey tea bags.

Step 2. Remove Earl Grey bags or leaves. Wait 20 minutes for it to cool.

Do not let the Earl Grey steep for longer than 6 minutes! Black tea, when steeped for too long develops a bitter flavor. If you’re worried about not getting enough Earl Grey flavor, you can use Earl Grey syrup or even Earl Grey ice cubes, as mentioned in the ingredients.

Squeezing the juice out of a lemon.

Step 3. Squeeze the juice out of 2 lemons, or until you get ⅓ of a cup of fresh lemon juice.

Stirring the lemonade after combining all the ingredients.

Step 4. Mix 1 ⅔ cups of water, sugar syrup and the fresh lemon juice. Pour in the Earl Grey, and stir to combine.

A glass of lemonade, ready to drink.

Step 5. Fill a glass with ice. Pour the lemonade over it and serve it immediately.

    ✔️Expert tips

Wanna make an adult version of it? Add a shot of your favorite hard liquor to a large glass of this lemonade. Just like my Brown Sugar Lemonade, this one can easily be served as a mocktail.

Make it bubbly. Substitute water mixed with the lemon juice (not the hot one!!) with sparkling water for a twist.

A touch of lavender. You can add ¼ teaspoon of lavender extract for a hint of lavender flavor. Or you can use an Earl Grey that has lavender on it. This flavor also combines perfectly with lemon.

    🙋🏻‍♀️Questions you might have

Can you make lemonade with brown sugar?

You can make lemonade with brown sugar! If you want to make this recipe using it, substitute simple syrup for my brown sugar syrup.

Can I use black tea or Lady Grey instead of Earl Grey?

Yes, you can substitute Earl Grey for plain black tea or Lady Grey, and still get a delicious result.

Does Earl Grey tea have caffeine?

Regular Earl Grey has caffeine, but you can buy a decaffeinated version to make this recipe.

    🍶Storing

You can make this drink ahead! This lemonade stays good for about 5 days when stored in the fridge. Be sure to store in a pitcher that you can cover the top, or bottle with lid, to avoid any off flavor it can get when in the refrigerator.

You can freeze any leftover and make ice cubes for the next batch. Store these ice cubes, after set, into a plastic bag in the freezer to avoid any off taste.
